Dear Olive Families,
I want share some wonderful activities from last week and look forward to this week.
Last week Olive students had several exciting activities. On Monday and Tuesday, students had the pleasure of hearing fables and receiving art lessons from Ane Roveti. As I popped into the variety of assemblies and classroom lessons, students were transfixed and amazed at her retell of the fables with her variety of voices and characters. As she told the fables she drew the most amazing pictures of the story characters. She taught 3rd through 5th grade students how to draw the characters too.
Wednesday was the Global Play Day. Many teachers participated in the wonderful activity. Students brought bikes, scooters, Legos, dolls, board game and played most of the day. So much learning occurred during play. Students were not told what to play, how to play nor had adult interference during their play. Students got the opportunity to engage in collaborative activities sharing and problem solving through play. We clearly all need a Global Play Day. Unfortunately all too often we get busy and don’t just play with our children. So this week make a commitment to play with your child without technology.
This coming week...Tuesday, February 9, 6:00 p.m-7:00 p.m. will be our Olive Community Meeting in the library to discuss school options for Olive. We will be discussing the K-8 option and Science Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics program (STEAM). Translations and childcare will be provided.
Just a reminder that there is no school Feb. 12-Feb. 19. We return on Monday, Feb. 22, 2016
All my best,
