PRINCIPAL'S Message      March 6, 2015

Dear Olive Families,

We have had an exciting few weeks at Olive. During the mid-winter break the Odyssey of the Mind student participants; Parker, Allen, Syrah,Tayla, Felix and Nathan competed in the regional completion for the first time. Amazingly enough our team took second place and is now going on to the state competition at UC Riverside on March 28. We have posted a Go Fund Me site, Odyssey of the Mind State Tourney, to raise money for this trip. If anyone would like to donate it would be very appreciated. This are amazing students and they have worked very hard to get this far. Congratulations!!

Congratulations to all the Novel Knowledge participants. The four top teams that made it to the finals were: Super Smart Slimy Serpents-Colton, Nathan, Ian and Oliver, Majestic Rainbow Hippie Potato Donkeys-Caleb, Zac, Raymond and Vinnie, Book Bandits- Faith, Ava, Hannah, and Maeve, Rainbow Rhino Readers-Savannah, Bryn, Daniela and Erika. Congratulations to Caleb, Zac, Raymond and Vinnie for taking first place.

On March 13 we will have our second parent tours for Common Core. These tours are meant to inform you about how our teachers are meeting the diversity of students with Common Core standards. If  you are interested in attending the tour on March 13 10:30-11:30 a.m., please call Carla in the office 1-415-897-2131. To be respectful to the class activities we can only accommodate 8 people.

All my best,
