PRINCIPAL'S Message       Sept. 19, 2014

Olive School Families,  I want to share my observations from my one day visit with 5th graders during Outdoor Education. First of all, it is always exciting to see our students in another environment. They were learning and applying science curriculum to the real world; viewing phytoplankton and zooplankton in a microscope and understanding the relationships between them and their environment, hiking in the beautiful Marin Headlands and seeing pods of dolphins play and whales breaching. These are the wonderful opportunities that PTA donations and parent donations provide for our students. Learning that expands the four walls and students’ imaginations. When you consider making a donation please think of the opportunities that all students can benefit from and support PTA through membership and a donation.
We are still looking for anyone that would like to be part of our wonderful team and work at Olive. We have before school (8:25-40), during school (9:50-10:30, 11:55-1:00) and afterschool (3:00-3:15/2:00-2:15) yard supervision positions available. We now have a vacancy for an Instructional Assistant position.  If you or anyone you know is interested please see Carla in the front office and she can get you started.
Important Safety Reminder: Please do not drop off/pick up students within the Plum Street lot. We have many Special Education buses that need to get in and out. When using Plum, Peach or Olive Streets all driver’s ordinances are still enforced. Our neighbors do not like speeding or blocked driveways and we want to be respectful of our neighbors property. The Novato Police Dept. will monitor traffic in these areas. Thank you for your support.

All my best,
Elizabeth Sesma-Olinyk
