PRINCIPAL'S Message      August 21, 2015

Dear Olive families,

Welcome to the 2015/16 school year. We are thrilled to continue with Olive School in Motion (OSIM) for our second year. It is an important part of our instructional day and required P.E. minutes. Please be aware that teachers may not look like they are in class but the instructional day does begin at 8:35 a.m. for all students. August 24 will be our first day of OSIM.

On Thursday, August 27 we will have our Back to School Night. This is an important part of the beginning of the school year. Teachers provide vital information regarding their classroom structure, expectations and discipline.  Childcare will be provided.  The schedule will be:

6:30-7:00 Kindergarten through 2nd grade presentations
7:00-7:30 General assembly at the shade structure
7:30-8:00 3rd grade-5th grade presentations

The Scholastic Book Fair will be in full swing Monday, Aug. 24-Friday, Aug 28. and will be open at Back to School Night.

All my best,
Elizabeth Sesma-Olinyk

CAASPP Testing Update
As of May 29, 2015, all schools within NUSD completed the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP).  The California Department of Education (CDE) has communicated that the electronic results will be available to districts four weeks after the testing has concluded.  The CDE has also communicated that the individual Student Score Reports will be sent to districts eight weeks after testing is complete.  School districts then have 20 days to mail them to parents and/or guardians.  NUSD anticipates receiving the individual Student Score Reports by the end of July and mailing them out in August. More information can be found on the CDE website.
